Artwork Requirements

Artwork must be submitted in Vector format with all the text converted into lines and curves. For better imprint results, fonts should not be less than 8pt, sans serif, regular weight.

The following file formats are acceptable:

• AI (Illustrator - CS6 / lower version)
• EPS (Illustrator - CS6 / lower version)
• PDF (vector based)
• WORD document (text ONLY)

The order is subject to additional charges if the artwork is not camera-ready or modification is required. These charges are based on the amount of time required to convert or modify the artwork at the rate of $10.00 net for every 10 minutes spent.

Minimum Text Sizes For Imprint

We highly recommend that all text must be at a minimum 8pt in size for Sans Serif fonts and 9pt for Serif fonts.

Gradients and Halftones

Gradients cannot be reproduced with hot stamping and must be converted into solid shapes. Gradients can be translated into an imprint with silk-screening and entrapment (4 colour process) ONLY.

Silk-screening Vs 4-Colour process

Silk-screening is a single (spot) colour process whereby 1 Pantone colour is screened at a time. We can silk-screen on a number of materials such as vinyl, leather, technical paper, technical linen and cardstock.

Owing to the porous nature of vinyl, we cannot print 4-colour process (AKA "Full colour") on any of our vinyl products. A 4-colour process effect can only be achieved by entrapping 4-colour process printed paper sheets with a clear vinyl overlay onto our products.

General Knowledge & Imprinting

Hot Stamping

All HY vinyl product prices include a one colour, one location foil stamped imprint (unless stated otherwise). The stamping die is extra.
ALL HOT-STAMPED NEW ORDERS REQUIRE A DIE(S) UNLESS PURCHASED IN PREVIOUS YEARS. Stamping dies are kept on file for a mximum of 3 years from the last invoice date. Due to changes in technology we can no longer type set imprints.
Hot stamping is recommended for vinyl products with a one colour, simple artwork. If a given artwork requires silkscreening for a more legible or cleaner imprint, our customer service team will provide pricing accordingly.  The imprinting tab on the product pages has the entire selection of available foil colours. Pantone (PMS) colour matching is not available for hot stamping. Since all our hot stamped products are manufactured to order, we reserve the right to overrun or underrun by 5% and bill accordigly. If exact quantities are requested, a 12% surcharge on the order value will apply.
Stamping dies remain the property of HYLINE. Stamping dies are stored for a maximum of three years from the date of the last order, when the die was last used. HYLINE reserves the right to dispose of any die(s) after that period.
Hot stamping Die Charge: $115.00 (G) (for an imprint up to 8 square inches)
Oversized Die Charge (per extra square inch): $5.00 (G) (for up to a total of 14 square inches)
Copy change charge: $20.00 (G). A copy change can ONLY be requested if the order meets the minimum quantity for that product.

Unimprinted pricing for vinyl products: Deduct $0.05 (G) for category A items and $0.12 (G) for category B items.

Silk-screening

Silk-screening offers many advantages over hot stamping. In addition to providing a sharper imprint, it can accurately produce intricate images. It is recommended for imprints with multiple colours and/or colour gradations, PMS matches, tight registration, and half tones. Prices are shown under each item in the price list. We reserve the right to overrun or underrun by 10% and bill accordigly. If exact quantities are requested, a 10% surcharge will apply. Silkscreening films remain the property of HYLINE.

SILK SCREENING RUNNING CHARGE (PER COLOUR) FOR VINYL PRODUCTS ARE OVER AND ABOVE THE HOT STAMPED PRICE. A SCREEN SET UP CHARGE OF $156.25 (G)  APPLIES PER COLOUR FOR NEW OR REPEAT ORDERS. Non-standard screening colours will incur colour mixing charge as below:

Close to PMS colour match charge: $115.00 (G)
Laboratory exact PMS match charge: $250.00 (G)

QR codes screening:

QR codes can be screened onto our vinyl products. QR codes can be linked to e-mail, promotions, video links, web pages, Google maps, PayPal transactions, Facebook, Twitter, and more!

Debossing/Embossing

Emboss/Deboss Die Charge: $140.00 (G) (for up to 8 square inches)
Oversize Die Charge (per extra square inch): $5.00 (G) (for up to a total of 14 square inches.) Deboss & emboss dies remain the property of HYLINE.

Embroidery

In addition to improving the look of an imprint, embroidery can create a lasting impression. Most of our vinyl products that are made with expanded vinyl can be embroidered. Bags that have an embroidery icon denote an embroidery-friendly product. A digitization fee will vary according to the size of embroidery. If a program is provided ONLY the running charge would apply. Running charges are dependent on stitch count. Contact our customer service to find out lead time, artwork requirements and pricing.

Entrapment

Entrapment is the process whereby a full colour printed sheet is entrapped using a overlaying clear sheet. Printed sheets are provided by our customers or printed by us from outside sources. Entrapment is popular in binder products.

Personalization

Personalization on portfolios, pad holders, and diaries adds a distinct look. Prices include one line of type (first name and surname only.)
